How to Download Twitch Videos Online and from PC

Twitch Video Downloader

Twitch is the most popular game streaming platform in the globe, and many people dream of becoming its stars. Who wouldn’t love to make a living doing what you love while entertaining thousands of fans? It can be difficult to gain a large following on Twitch without a lot of luck and work.

Twitch can be used primarily for live streaming and gameplay, but there are also talk shows, cooking shows, and sporting events on the site.

Twitch lets fans connect with streamers. Twitch allows you to watch what you are interested in via live streaming or long-form broadcasts. You might be surprised to find streams that last more than an hour or even two hours.

You need to learn how to download Twitch videos, whether you are a streamer or just a fan. Although it isn’t easy, this guide will show you how to store your favorite videos on your hard drive.

You can save every stream on Twitch as a VOD (video-on-demand). Twitch VODs can be downloaded by both streamers and viewers to allow them to be accessed even when they are offline.

Twitch is used by who?

Twitch’s main audience consists of teens gamers. Let’s take a closer look at this.

Users of Twitch found that the primary keywords their audience was searching for were “games”, “computers,” or “technology”. This information shows that Twitch users are most interested in playing games and the technology that makes them possible.

Although the audience is dominated by teen boys, it’s not the only one. My favorite Twitch streamers were adult women of color. If you think your audience isn’t on Twitch then they might be. But, only in a smaller amount.

How to download others videos on Twitch

It can be difficult to download broadcasts that you find particularly funny. Although Twitch does not have any built-in tools to download other broadcasts, there are many third-party tools that can do exactly that.

When downloading these videos, ensure you don’t violate any copyright laws.

KeepVid

KeepVid is a free service that allows you to download Twitch videos. Simply copy the URL of the video that you wish to download, and then paste it in the box at the top.

KeepVid will convert your Twitch video to a downloadable format. The conversion time will vary depending upon how long the Twitch video was. However, a small preview of the finished video will be displayed along with a button to “Download video.” Simply click this button and save the file to your PC.

Scroll down a bit to see more options for customization. You can also download the video in a smaller format (as small as 284×160).

Twitch Lecher

Twitch Leecher, a third-party application that is free to download from Github, can be found here. The tool has a powerful search function built-in, but you may have better luck searching the Twitch website first if you are trying to find a specific video. Searches can be made by channel name, video URL or video ID.

You can refine each search. You can search by channel name to find a broadcast, highlight or upload that occurred within a certain time period. You can search for multiple videos simultaneously by searching URLs or video IDs. You can choose to download the results from your search after you’ve completed your search.

It is important to know that subscribers-only videos, which are only available to subscribers to a channel, cannot be downloaded via Twitch Leecher.

Streamlink

Twitch Leecher can only be used on Windows, but there is a Mac version called Streamlink which performs a similar function. It requires a little more knowledge to use. The Streamlink page on Github has a user guide as well as instructions for how to use it. This makes it one of the best choices for Mac users who don’t want an online download tool such KeepVid.

4K Video Downloader

Some streamers stream in 4K. A tool that can download 4K content will allow you to enjoy the best quality videos from your favorite streamers. 4K Video Downloader works on both Macs and Windows. It can pull in a wide range of resolutions and not just 4K.

You will need to install and download the application in order to use the tool. The URL of the Twitch stream that you wish to download is copied. Launch the application. Select Paste Link at the top-right. This will open a menu that allows you to choose the quality of the video and then download it.

4K Video Downloader is available in both a paid and free version. You can download 30 Twitch videos per Day on the basic, unpaid plan.

How to download your own videos on Twitch

Twitch lets you download videos from previous broadcasts. This feature is great for streamers who want to upload their video to YouTube or Vimeo or those who want to save the best bits from each stream to make a montage.

You have 14 days to download videos from basic Twitch accounts. You have 60 days to download the video if you are a Twitch Partner or Affiliate.

Make sure that videos are saved to your profile before you do anything else. Click on Twitch > Settings > Video and toggle the Store past broadcasts toggle from the On position. After the broadcast ends, all videos are automatically saved to your account.

All videos that you stream or broadcast will be added to your account. These videos can be accessed by clicking on the account icon, then on Video Producer. Click the three dots to the right of the video name, and then select Download. The video will be prepared in a few seconds and then downloaded to your computer.

You can also download Twitch videos from other sources

You can find dozens of third-party tools to download Twitch videos by doing a quick Google search. However, you should be cautious about using any tool you don’t know. These tools can be dangerous for your computer and data as they are often untrustworthy and not from reliable sources.
